Foul Ball

Yanks sued by PWA dude
A former New York Yankees clubhouse worker cried
foul in Bronx Supreme Court last summer, alleging AIDS
discrimination and verbal gay-bashing. A multimillion-dollar suit
filed by Paul Priore, 34, pitches some ugly accusations against the
Yanks -- that he was chased around the clubhouse and harassed by
players, and finally fired because he has HIV. Neither Priore nor
his lawyer would comment, but Yanks' spokesperson Rick Cerrone
stepped up to the PR plate: "There's no basis to this suit. It's a
totally frivolous action." He said the team had no clue about
Priore's HIV status and that the 1997 firing was strictly
job-related. As assistant equipment manager since 1990, Priore was
supervised by his dad, Nick, who was fired for "performance reasons"
four months after Paul got the ax.
