Facing skyrocketing HIV rates and only about 5% condom use, the Indian government is ribbing the populace—with vibrating rubbers. Officials are funding research into motorized latex, touting safe sex as a throbbin’ good time.

Though the U.S. offers similar devices, sexologist Carol Queen notes that the batteries expire at the worst possible moments. She suggests accessorizing a standard condom with a “Perfect Pair” cock ring from Good Vibrations ($25, www.goodvibrations.com). Vroom!
