Face Forward

A new facial filler is coming: The makers of Radiesse (formerly called Radiance)say the FDA may soon approve the product to treat HIV-related facial wasting. A synthetic version of a mineral in your bones and teeth, it’s already approved for various medical uses. Adam Gridley, the company’s VP, says Radiesse, like Sculptra, must be reinjected after a year or two. Activists fear Radiesse will cost more than Sculptra, but Gridley claims a full course will cost less (about $1,250 plus doc fees). The price won’t “go north” after the FDA’s OK, he adds, and patient-assistance programs will be available.
