Mandatory Testing for Moms!

I think [mandatory testing of mothers in New Jersey] is a great Idea but I don't think they should be able to opt out of it. If you are going to bring a child into this world, you should also want to do all you can to make sure it’s as healthy as can possibly be. I feel it’s a shame the state has to step in to help make this happen, We as mothers should do it on our own. People should want to know if they have HIV or AIDS.

When I had my youngest daughter, I didn't know I had HIV, and by the time I found out, I had AIDS. I freaked out—not because I was poz but because my baby girl could have gotten it from me.

I got lucky and she is neg. But not all children can or will be so lucky, so as parents-to-be it’s our responsibility to try and make them as healthy as possible under the circumstances.

I feel testing should be mandatory for everyone worldwide. This is out of control and a stop has to be put to it. Let it end with us. There are millions out there who don't know their status and are putting others at risk. We can do something to help stop it by being tested, but it seems people don't want to know. Well then our states should step in.
