After living with AIDS for 11 years and going thru everything from PCP to lymphoma, we finally get to a batch of medicines and I start having problems with triglycerides and cholesterol. (Remember: Eat everything you can to avoid wasting.)
I have had four heart attacks and do everything they tell me. I have not had a problem in two years because I am vigilant with my health. You have to be flexible as things progress.
The thing is that the cardiology people seem to think I don't need any proactive tests (stress tests, cardiograms etc.)—as if I should be happy to have gotten this far.
I still feel like I have a lot to give, and if you saw me you would not know I had gone thru this. (Another PLWA could see it my face.)
My problem is that each time I go to a new doctor other than an infectious disease specialist, I have to convince them to treat me fairly.
