Health ministers convening at an African Union meeting in Johannesburg this week may be discussing ways to produce HIV drugs on the continent itself in order to reduce Africa’s reliance on the West. Many African countries rely on generic drugs imported from India and China, but patent laws may threaten access to those medications.
"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
