After taking over as the new executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria this week, Michel Kazatchkine announced plans to more than triple annual spending to $6 or $8 billion. In its five-year history, the Fund has raised $10.4 billion, mostly through donations from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the U.S., Canada, Japan and Russia.
