AIDS activists from Housing Works and ACT UP were under secret surveillance by the New York Police Department during the Republican National Convention in 2004, according to documents publicized last week. Six hundred pages of secret files were opened when a judge granted requests by the New York Civil Liberties Union and the New York Times to make them public.
