Houston hip hop fans will have the chance to see Lil’ Wayne, Baby and David Banner in a free concert next month as part of “Hip Hop 4 Life—Know Your Status”—but there’s a catch: They’ll have to take an HIV test first. The event is sponsored by local radio station 97.9 The Box and the Texstars Foundation Project, a nonprofit organization started by recently elected State Representative Borris L. Miles that hopes to raise awareness about HIV in some predominately African-American Houston districts where infection rates are disproportionately high.
"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
