In some Southern African countries elected leaders are dying from AIDS faster than they can be replaced, threatening the stability of local governments, according to a study by the Institute for Democracy in South Africa. The report looked at death rates for politicians in South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania and Senegal and found that the patterns of death among government officials mimic those of the general population.
"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
