HIV-Positive Chinese AIDS Activist Detained
A well-known AIDS activist has been detained in China for lobbying for compensation for Chinese people who contracted HIV through tainted blood supplies, Agence France Presse (AFP) reports. Tian Xi, who became HIV-positive through a blood transfusion, was detained at a hospital and taken to an unknown location. Chinese officials declined to comment. AIDS activists in the United States said Tian Xi is in poor health, and they are concerned about his condition in jail.
