Although new AIDS cases in Washington, DC, decreased from 2004 to 2008, the city has a higher AIDS rate than any state, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and reported by Washington City Paper. The study includes newly available data from 2008. African Americans were most at risk for AIDS overall, but African-American women represented 94 percent of new AIDS cases among women in DC from 2004 to 2008.
