May 19 is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, an annual observance to promote HIV awareness and testing in API communities. This year’s theme is “Saving face can’t make you safe. Talk about HIV—for me, for you, for everyone.” The Banyan Tree Project, a national social marketing campaign to stop HIV-related stigma in API communities, established this awareness day in 2005 in order to promote the project’s goals.
