Trauma Linked to HIV Risk, Treatment Failure in U.S. Women
A pair of recent studies show a powerful, systemic relationship between trauma—physical violence, sexual abuse and the like—and HIV/AIDS among American women, Medical Xpress reports. In addition, HIV-positive American women are twice as likely as the national average to have suffered from domestic violence and over five times as likely to have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
