Three new studies at Brigham Young University (BYU) are exploring how HIV changes and reproduces, according to a BYU statement. In the first study, researchers looked at identical twins who contracted HIV through a blood transfusion as infants and identified how the virus evolved differently in each boy. In the second study, researchers showed how HIV evolves soon after it infects an individual and how this affects drug trials. In the third study, researchers explored how a naturally occurring protein stops HIV from multiplying and how scientists can block virus replication.
