A Boston pharmacist has pled guilty to conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government by submitting $204,000 in false claims to Medicaid, The Boston Globe reports. Ernest McGee, a pharmacist at Codman Square Pharmacy, allegedly worked with pharmacy owner Anmdiegwu Onujiogu to pay customers to bring in prescriptions the pharmacy would then charge to Medicaid. The customers, mostly HIV-positive people, the homeless and drug users, would receive a payment ranging from one tenth to one third of the amount billed to Medicaid, but would not actually keep or take their medications as prescribed. Onujiogu was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison. McGee faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
