Florida County to Stop Primary HIV Care for Uninsured
The South Florida Broward County Health Department will stop offering primary medical care on March 1 to uninsured people with HIV/AIDS and will turn them over to private providers, the Sun Sentinel reports. The change affects several hundred patients whose care is paid by federal Ryan White grants and who will now be switched to doctors and case managers at other agencies. The health department will continue to offer HIV services to inmates and pregnant women. However, it plans to launch a new program to increase medication adherence for HIV-positive people.
