After a University of Alberta hospital employee tested positive for HIV and hepatitis C, the Canadian province’s health minister is looking into the methodology used for screening health workers, the Winnipeg Sun reports. Currently, health workers are tested for infectious diseases on a voluntary basis. The health minister is now considering whether to make it mandatory. Health officials are attempting to contact more than 200 patients who might have been exposed to the viruses between July 2006 and March 2009.
