Buddhist Monks in China Provide Social Aid to People With HIV

Buddhist monks in China's southwestern Yunnan province are providing social aid to hundreds of people with HIV, Xinhua reports. As part of the "Home of Buddha Glory," a program established in 2003 with funding from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, the monks provide mental health care by helping patients cope with fear and stress, as well as helping connect patients with social welfare programs and job opportunities. As the monks' vows forbid them from discussing sex, they are unable to provide safer sex information.
