On July 1, the Colorado Springs City Council increased its fee on all medical marijuana businesses in the city to $2,200, The Colorado Independent reports. Previously, those businesses were only required to pay a $500 pre-registration cost. Advocates say the city is unfairly picking on dispensaries. City council representatives say the fee is necessary to cover complicated processing and maintenance fees fronted by the city. The city council is deliberating on other proposed charges, including two extra charges of $1,800 each.
