Connecticut Legalizes Medical Marijuana
Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed into law legislation to legalize medical marijuana for people with debilitating conditions, including cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis and HIV/AIDS, according to a June 1 statement from the Democratic governor. Connecticut lawmakers are emphasizing that only patients with written certification from a physician can get a prescription for medical marijuana and that safeguards are in place to prevent it from being abused or over-prescribed. People with the prescriptions are not allowed to use the drug in any public place, near children younger than 18, in any motor vehicle, on school grounds or in college dormitories.
