The Desert AIDS Project (DAP) of Riverside County, California, continues to provide HIV testing services despite $80 million in cuts to the state’s HIV/AIDS budget, according to a DAP statement. The organization has made up the shortfall with an additional $15,000 from the county and from individual $45 donations from its Red Band program, where each donation funds the purchase of three rapid-result HIV testing kits. As a result, DAP has been able to expand its services to cover 27 HIV testing sites in Riverside County—a region whose transmission rate is three times the national average.
