Some murders, attempted murders and lynchings in Uganda have been attributed to deficient HIV counseling, PlusNews reports. Faced with a lack of trained health workers and a surge in HIV diagnoses, counselors are so overwhelmed by the number of clients that they often provide no more than 15 minutes of counseling to newly diagnosed HIV-positive people. Experts say more pre-test and post-test counseling is needed, especially for serodiscordant couples dealing with feelings of anger and betrayal.
