Improving Diabetes Care for HIV-Positive U.S. Veterans
The quality of diabetes care for veterans living with HIV could be improved, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and reported by aidsmap. Taking into account seven aspects of standard care, such as screening for diabetes and controlling cholesterol, investigators found that small VA facilities trailed behind large VA centers in meeting the highest levels of service. While the quality of care was only slightly poorer than what was provided to HIV-negative patients, investigators concluded that all facilities should be able to meet the highest expectations.
