Teammate Trash Talks Magic Johnson Longevity With HIV
Clyde Drexler, a former NBA star who played with Magic
Johnson, is quoted as trash talking Johnson in a new book, Dream Team, about the 1992 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team, CBS
News reports. In the book, Drexler says that “everyone was waiting for Magic to
die” and that Johnson ultimately received a spot on the Olympic team out of
pity after he revealed he had HIV. Drexler has since said that the quotes
attributed to him are “ludicrous” and that he has no idea where author Jack
McCallum got them. McCallum has said the quotes are accurate.
