Ellen DeGeneres Named Special Envoy for Global AIDS Awareness
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has named Ellen DeGeneres a Special Envoy for Global AIDS Awareness, according to a State Department statement. DeGeneres will raise awareness about the global fight against AIDS and support the new U.S. plan for an AIDS-free generation. The Ellen DeGeneres Show reaches millions of people every day, and DeGeneres herself has 8 million Twitter followers and almost 6 million Facebook fans. “I’m honored to have been chosen,” DeGeneres said. “The fight against AIDS is something that has always been close to my heart, and I’m happy that I can use my platform to educate people and spread hope.”

I try and educate people, gay or straight,about the ramifications they face if they allow themselves to become infected with the HIV virus. I have been fighting it for 28 years and am still
"winning"! Surviving cancer of the lymph system, 2 heart attacks,a triple and a quad +
by-passes, and numerous other
ailment, to many to mention.
But I am still alive and very
happy to be so. At peace when it comes my time and bless the remaining the same self
peace.

Ellen is perfect for this! I personally know how hard it is and how desperately we need to increase global awarenessnot only of AIDS, but also the Viruses related to AIDS like PML. My daughter Courtney died of PML in 2009 and since her death I wrote and published her story to raise global awareness of this horrible disease. I also sent Elen a copy, "Courtney's Story", my book that chronicles my daughter's battle with PML.
