Florida Lawmakers to Meet HHS Secretary on ADAP Crisis

U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and U.S. Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Alcee Hastings, all of Florida, will meet with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to discuss the state’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) crisis, The Florida Independent reports. According to Michael Rajner, legislative director of the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus, Floridians represent more than 40 percent of all people nationwide on ADAP waiting lists. The National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors estimates more than 3,500 people are now on Florida’s ADAP waiting list.
