Fashion for Action 2011

What could be better than shopping for designer clothes at a discounted price? Having your bill benefit homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS while enjoying cocktails and hor d’oeurves all nightlong!

On November 16, Housing Works hosted its eight annual Fashion for Action fundraiser. Fashionistas flocked to the Altman Building in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood where Housing Works kicked off their event with an opening night reception. Fashion designer Thom Browne served as honorary chair with actress Patricia Clarkson and Rachel Roy as co-chairs by his side at the private shopping extravaganza.

Hundreds of brands donated more than $1 million worth of new apparel, accessories and beauty products for attendees to choose from. The sale opened up to the public the following day, November 17, and continued through Saturday, November 19.

VIP attendees included photographer Mike Ruiz, senior vice president of IMG Fashion Fern Mallis, Simon van Kempen and Alex McCord from The Real Housewives of New York, designer Carmen Marc Valvo, recording artist Eil Lieb, and Vivre founder Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti.
