Florida Man Charged With HIV Transmission Is Released
Daniel Hay Lewis—the Florida man who in May was charged with criminal transmission of HIV, grand theft and assault on an officer—tested HIV negative and was released from jail preceding trial, The Florida Independent reports. Hay Lewis allegedly attempted to bite an officer who was arresting him for shoplifting. He was charged with criminal transmission of HIV, a charge that increased his bail. Once Hay Lewis’s test came back negative, Broward County dropped the criminal transmission charge.
