GMHC Fashion Forward 2011
The who’s who of the fashion scene came out to support the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) Fifth Annual Fashion Forward event November 17 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan. Julie Macklowe, former hedge fund manager, Vogue “It Girl” and creator of skincare company vbeauté, was bestowed the first Style Vault Award. Macklowe certainly deserved the honor, not only for her philanthropy but also for her style—she wore a floor-length fire engine red bejeweled gown topped off with a feather fascinator and fur vest.
The fund-raising night kicked off with a cocktail reception coupled with a luxury auction. Brooks Brothers, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors and many more generously donated high-end goods. The most lust-worthy items included an iPad 2, a Vespa and trips to Paris, Brazil, Sweden and Fire Island Pines.
Brad Goreski, Rachel Zoe’s former assistant and current star of Bravo TV’s It’s a Brad, Brad World, along with actress Tracee Ellis Ross of the hit sitcom Girlfriends, emceed the runway show. Featured designs included men’s and women’s looks from Chris Benz, Thom Browne, Marlon Gobel, Sally LaPointe, Zang Toi, VPL, Timo Weiland and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Noted celebrity attendees included fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra, Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes, models Andrej Pejic and Chrissy Teigen, photographer and A-Lister Mike Ruiz and former POZ cover boy Jack Mackenroth.
