As a result of the global recession, HIV/AIDS funding worldwide is being scrutinized for increased efficiencies, Reuters reports. Examples include: a new plan from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) called “Treatment 2.0” seeking to simplify HIV treatment; a new national HIV/AIDS strategy from the United States seeking to prevent new HIV cases to reduce future AIDS-related costs; and comments from Bill Gates, who said his foundation will highlight efficient HIV/AIDS programs.
