Survey: Gulf Coast Oil Spill Affects HIV Services
A HealthHIV survey found that 54 percent of HIV-positive people along the U.S. Gulf Coast have family and friends who have been affected by the oil spill, according to a HealthHIV statement. The survey also found that 49 percent of HIV service providers indicated they need assistance with providing services to residents displaced by the oil spill. A follow-up survey this fall will focus on the oil spill’s influence on HIV care.
