The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released more than $1.89 billion in HIV/AIDS care and medication grants, according to a statement from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The grants are funded through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. About $1.2 billion will be sent to states and territories, with $813 million designated for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) and an additional $40 million going to 30 states and territories for ADAP Emergency Relief Funding. Seventy-five percent of the funds will be spent on core medical services such as outpatient medical care, prescription drug assistance and medical nutrition therapy. The remaining 25 percent will pay for support services including medical transportation and linguistic services.
