The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released more than $1.89 billion in HIV/AIDS care and medication grants, according to a statement from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The grants are funded through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. About $1.2 billion will be sent to states and territories, with $813 million designated for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) and an additional $40 million going to 30 states and territories for ADAP Emergency Relief Funding. Seventy-five percent of the funds will be spent on core medical services such as outpatient medical care, prescription drug assistance and medical nutrition therapy.
