Obama Gives HIV Prevention $30M for FY 2010
The Obama
administration has allocated about $30 million for HIV prevention in federal
fiscal year 2010, according to a statement by The AIDS Institute. The funding
comes from the new Prevention and Public Health Fund, which was created by the
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. the health care reform law).
Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius announced that $250
million in total would be allocated from the new fund in federal fiscal year
2010 for overall disease prevention.
