HIV-Positive Canadian Man Gets 3 Years for Nondisclosure
John Duane Gilbertson of Edmonton, Canada, has been sentenced to three years in prison for having sex with a woman and not disclosing he was HIV positive, the Toronto Sun reports. Gilbertson, 44, had been charged with aggravated sexual assault, but he was allowed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault. He was arrested in June when his roommates called police after they found him having sex with the woman. Prosecutors said the woman was drunk and had trouble telling the police details.
