The House of Representatives has approved an additional $60 million for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) in fiscal year 2011, according to a statement from The AIDS Institute. The increased funding was included in a bill that will fund all federal programs next year at existing levels, except in some instances. The Senate has not yet voted on the bill. The additional funds would help several states eliminate their ADAP waiting lists. More than 4,000 people are currently on ADAP waiting lists nationwide.
