The city of Melbourne, Australia, has been chosen to host the XX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014), according to an International AIDS Society (IAS) statement. The conference, held every other year, is organized by the IAS in partnership with selected governments and international organizations. IAS selected Melbourne because of Australia’s strong commitment to ending HIV both nationally and in the Asia Pacific region. As many as 25,000 attendees will gather to assess progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS and to set priorities for future research and policy work.
