The Indian government and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria have established a three-year, $128.4 million grant agreement to support the country’s National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), The Hindu reports. NACO plans to use the money to diagnose, treat and care for roughly two-thirds of India’s HIV-positive population. Its goal is to counsel and test more than 18 million people by 2012. Special focus will be placed on pregnant women, men who have sex with men, female sex workers, intravenous drug users and people with sexually transmitted infections or tuberculosis.
