Japan Donates $340M to Global Fund
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has
received a $340 million contribution from Japan, making it the country’s
largest ever donation, according to a Global Fund statement. This donation is a
significant increase over the last contribution of $246 million in 2010. Japan’s
2011 contribution was reduced following the country’s devastating earthquake
and tsunami. The Global Fund’s general manager said the contribution shows
Japan’s commitment and dedication to global advances in health.
