Judge Temporarily Halts Cuts to Tennessee Planned Parenthood
U.S. District Judge William Haynes has granted a preliminary order to temporarily halt Tennessee’s Department of Health from denying funding to a Planned Parenthood HIV and syphilis testing and prevention program, The Commercial Appeal reports. Planned Parenthood has already filed a lawsuit against the state regarding $150,000 in dropped grants. It argues that funding was withheld for political reasons because the organization provides comprehensive women’s health care that includes abortion.
