Kentucky Ends Its ADAP Waiting List

The Kentucky Department of Public Health has ended its waiting list for the state's AIDS Drugs Assistance Program (ADAP) by moving the 306 individuals on the list into the program, kypost.com reports. The state attributes its ability to end its ADAP waiting list to improved program efficiencies, pharmaceutical rebates and supplemental federal funding. The Kentucky ADAP now serves about 1,500 people and is expected to accommodate new enrollees through June 2012. Other states around the country—especially in the South—still maintain long waiting lists.

Wow! This is really great news! I have lived hiv positive for 27 years, am 41 years old and spent the last year in TN without medical insurance after years of care. I now have medicare and pay my own premiums, $110.00 a month. I live in KY now and I am very happy to hear those without health care can now have it.. congratulations!!
