IAS: Women and Children Key to Fighting HIV/AIDS
The International AIDS Society (IAS) urged governments and other donors to make progress against HIV/AIDS by improving the health of pregnant women and children ages 5 and younger, according to an IAS statement. IAS made this appeal in response to the commitments made at the recent U.N. Millennium Development Goals summit. IAS believes that a commitment by donors of $20 billion between 2011 and 2013 to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria will significantly scale up programming.
