L.A. City Council Votes to Ban Most Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
The Los Angeles City Council has unanimously voted to close
down most of the city’s 762 medical marijuana dispensaries, reports the Los
Angeles Times. Under the ban, each of the medical marijuana shops will be
ordered to shut down immediately or face legal action. Medical patients and
their caregivers are still allowed to grow and share the drug in small groups
(three people or less). Patients may find some additional relief: Council
members also voted to allow about 170 of the city’s oldest dispensaries to stay
open.
