Defendant Loses in China's First HIV Discrimination Case
An HIV-positive man who was refused a teaching job in the Chinese city of Anqing lost that nation's first lawsuit over employment discrimination based on HIV status, The Associated Press (AP) reports. Anqing's district court ruled that the city's education bureau had correctly followed public service health standards, which state that teachers must be free of infectious diseases. Wow. What if that stipulation; infectious diseases; in a job description was applied in the future ? The article mentioned a public education environment.
