Magic Johnson Invests in Florida HIV Medicaid Program
Magic Johnson Enterprises is investing in a Miami-based
insurer to create a Medicaid program for people with HIV, The Miami Herald
reports. Earvin “Magic” Johnson has partnered with Simply Healthcare Plans to
launch Clear Health Alliance, a subsidiary that will work as a Medicaid plan in
Miami-Dade County and later throughout Florida. It is described as a
“high-touch, high-care program” that would include transportation services and
nutrition advice. The investment takes advantage of a new Florida law that
allows the creation of special Medicaid plans for people with HIV.
