The Mississippi House of Representatives is debating whether to pass a comprehensive sex education law, The Associated Press (AP) reports. Current state law does not mandate school districts teach comprehensive sex ed or abstinence, but the districts do have the option to teach abstinence; if they want to teach more than abstinence, they must get school board approval. The state has the nation’s highest teen pregnancy rate. Mississippi could receive federal funding if the state allows districts to teach more than abstinence.
