Mississippi Overspends $850K of Ryan White Funding
The Mississippi State Department of Health overspent $850,000 in funds from the federal Ryan White program, The Clarion Ledger reports. The state spends more than $18 million a year on HIV/AIDS, but most of that funding—almost $14 million a year—comes from the federal Ryan White program. This isn’t the first time the state has had HIV/AIDS funding problems. In 1997, the health department cut hundreds of people from the program. In 1998, the state legislature restored the funding to cover them.
