NYC Restores Over $1M to HIV/AIDS Housing Budget
New York City will restore three quarters of the original $1.88 million budget cut from housing programs for HIV-positive New Yorkers, The Wall Street Journal reports. The reinstatement of the funds comes nearly four months after Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council finalized the budget. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said, “I don’t think this cut should have been in to begin with, but once it was, and it was clear that things were not as we thought, there just shouldn’t have been negotiations.” There remains a $400,000 cut to the previous fiscal appropriation.
