A new report from the International AIDS Society (IAS) advocates for broader use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) among intravenous drug users, both for their own health and to restrict HIV transmission, according to an IAS statement. The IAS policy proposal-called “Seek, Test, Treat and Retain”-includes increased outreach (“seek”) and HIV testing (“test”) among drug-using populations, ensuring that HIV-positive drug users both find care (“treat”) and remain in care (“retain”).
