HIV-Positive Women Often Endure Human Rights Violations
The Positive Women’s Network (PWN) has released survey results revealing that HIV-positive women often endure human rights violations, according to a PWN statement. The release coincides with National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The survey found that criminalizing nondisclosure of one’s HIV status to partners, even when using a condom, increases stigma and deters testing. The survey also found that medical providers do not provide adequate information about and support for HIV-positive women’s reproductive health.
